It is the purpose of this handbook to provide basic information on the Soviet Armed Forces - and particularly the Soviet aerospace forces - in order to promote a greater awareness of the Soviet military and its capabilities. This handbook is based on unclassified sources. It is structured to present the Soviet Armed Forces from their own perspective and not to mirror-image Western concepts and organizational patterns.
