Jackson County Pioneers by Pearl Wilcox
An 1804 entry in the journal of General William Clark concerning Fort Point (later Fort Osage) introduces the reader to a parade of people and events which shaped the present Jackson County. Little known stories of famous-and infamous-characters of the Civil War period as well as the pioneers who settled the towns, promoted industry, and courted culture make this an entertaining, highly readable book.
