Hopewellian Archaeology in the Lower Missouri River Valley by Alfred E. Johnson
Since 1963, the Museum of Anthropology at the University of Kansas has been actively involved in the accumulation and analysis of data from a series of prehistoric Middle Woodland (Hopewellian) communities located along a stretch of the lower Missouri River valley extending from Kansas City to St. Joseph, Missouri. During this period, research has focused on adaptive patterns with special attention to those aspects of the archaeological record suggesting change or stability in subsistence and settlement. The present volume includes eight papers, by students and faculty members, which has resulted from this research.
