Fix Your Ford - V8's and 6's: 1932-1952 by Bill Toboldt
From the Introduction: Many books have been written on servicing and repairing Ford cars. Some of the books dealt at length on the theory of operation; others ignored theory and described in infinite detail each step in each repair procedure. both types of books undoubtedly were of considerable value to certain groups. However, there is and ever-growing number of men who are fairly well grounded in automotive theory of operation and who know how to do simple tune-up and repair work. Such men desire information on how a particular car differs from others, what is unusual, what short cuts and kinks can be used to speed repairs, what can be done to get better than normal speed, power and economy. It is on such points that emphasis is placed in this book. While not neglecting step by step service procedure, many special time and labor saving shop kinks are used and described throughout. In this way considerable time will be saved in making repairs but of equal importance, no money will be wasted in discarding parts, which with a little ingenuity can be made to last for many thousand miles. This book is therefore of value not only to the average car owner who wishes to do an occasional job on his Ford, but also to the experienced mechanic who wants to do a better job in less time. Material for this manual was obtained from many different sources, particularly from the thousands of mechanics throughout the country, from the Ford Motor Company, and from many of the tool equipment manufacturers.
